The PCF Bikeathon - Pedal for Progress - June 2, 2002

On June 2, 2002, Pediatric Cancer Foundation and the Westchester County Department of Parks and Recreation held our Second Annual Bikeathon to benefit children with cancer.

For the second year people of all ages rode bicycles of many shapes and sizes raising thousands of dollars for kids with cancer. Hundreds of registrants received t-shirts and lots of giveaways including product from General Mills and Pokemon stuffed animals. Dunkin' Donuts, one of our primary sponsors, served donuts and bagels and provided Rocket Man to serve coffee by being a human coffee spout. Bill Andrews Assembly of the Society of Young Magicians #42, captured the high spirit of the day by entertaining children of all ages along with clowns, stilt walkers and balloon artistry.

Judith Elkins, Scarsdale resident and President of Pediatric Cancer Foundation remarks:

"I am particularly grateful to Bikeathon Co-Chairs, Jane Shandell and Jennifer Stone for their tireless efforts in creating, organizing, promoting, and producing PCF's Second Annual Bikeathon. Last year's Bikeathon through corporate contributions and cyclists raised over $50,000. With donations arriving daily, we expect to exceed that amount this year. Bikeathon funds support Pediatric Cancer Foundation Infusion Rooms at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center."

To host your own "Bikeathon" to benefit Pediatric Cancer Foundation, call 914-777-3127 and we can give you many different types of suggestions, including indoor cycling for 3-year-olds.
